Gymnastic Skills #1 

I love gymnastics and so do lots of people. So I thought I would do a blog post on basic gymnastics skills. Hopefully by the end of this you will be more confident doing gymnastics and be able to complete awsome moves that you can share with your friends and family and also to teach them too!                                Lets get Started!

No.1 – Forward Roll ( level 1 )                                                                                                     Start by presenting this is how you start each move, then you want to go down into a crouch with your arms in the direction you are heading. Now you want put your hands on the ground and tuck your head into your chest. Put your head on the ground and arch your back. Now you are going to keep your head tucked in and over onto your feet. Try and not use your hands to get up as it will look much cleaner. Finish of with presenting, keep on practicing and soon you’ll be able to do a perfect forward roll. Now that we have learned how to do a forward roll we can get onto more advanced things, it’s time to learn how to do a… Cartwheel!!!!

No.2 – Cartwheel ( level 1-4 )                                                                                           Cartwheels are a wee bit more difficult than the forward roll but we’re going to learn it and we’re going to be great at it! Now cartwheels need a lot of control so when you are doing the move then you need your legs straight, your hands in the correct position so you don’t land badly on your legs or break your thumb because it’s not in the correct position. So as always you start by presenting, Then your going to put your starting leg forwards. Bend sideways putting your hands on the floor and lift your other leg up ( make sure your starting foot is still flat on the ground! ) Now you are going to swap legs by putting the starting foot in the air and the other foot on the ground. To finish you are going to put the first leg on the floor and then after put the other one on the floor beside the other foot. Present and your finished! Can you believe it! With a little practice you will be able to do these 2 gymnastics skills perfectly without any mistakes! Gymnastics is a great sport to learn and builds up your strength and flexibility, sometimes it can be difficult but if you just concentrate and work really hard you can do any move. I go to gymnastics for not very long and already I can see a huge difference in my flexibility and confidence because I am practicing all the time and I can pull of moves that I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do before. 😀😃
